New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker says he's been actively trying to recruit former teammate and Denver Broncos wideout Demaryius Thomas for next season.

Decker said in an interview with The New York Post that he'd like the opportunity to play alongside Thomas again, and has pitched the idea to him several times as he approaches free agency.

“For him, it’s a situation where he’s kind of waiting. If Denver’s going to franchise tag him or if they’re going to work out a long term deal... I’d love to have him suit up in a New York Jets uniform and be a teammate of mine. He’s one of the best receivers in this league and I always enjoyed, and it made it easier to play alongside someone like him.”

Decker says that he's maintained a close relationship with Thomas since leaving the Broncos to sign with the Jets after the end of the last season. The New York Daily News reports that the two spent a few days in Arizona filming a commercial for Courtyard Marriott.

Decker and Thomas were teammates for four years with the Broncos. Thomas will become a free agent in March.
