Dr. Steve Brule is back, and in an unusual fashion. The Tim & Eric/John C. Reilly creation headlines his second starring vehicle on Adult Swim, as he stars in the new 30-minute special Bagboy.
Entertainment Weekly broke the story. Brule, originating from Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and later getting his own spin-off with Check It Out with Dr. Steve Brule, frontlines his second show, which finds everyone's favorite dingus creating, writing and directing his own sitcom pilot also starring himself as a bumbling working stiff at a grocery store. The special airs on February 20 at 12:30 a.m.
Also featuring some wacky favorites from Tim & Eric and Check It Out, this special serves as a unaired pilot from Brule's own Channel 5, who apparently shelved the doctor's show due to its substandard quality and low entertainment value.” Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim serve as writers and executive producers on the special.
A high quality clip can be found on EW's link, but because it cannot be shared, you can see a fan-shot 5-minute look at the special, which aired during a live event with Heidecker, Wareheim and Reilly as Brule. Based on what can be found here, the people at Channel 5 weren't lying.
It's unclear at the moment if Brule will come back for a fourth season of Check It Out. At the moment, Tim & Eric already have their own new show Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories on the air, which co-stars Zach Galifiankis.
