You can count John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor in on the Ben Affleck-starrer. The two actors have signed on for the Warner Bros. thriller The Accountant.
Deadline confirmed Lithgow’s involvement yesterday. The 3rd Rock from the Sun veteran will play Lamar Black, a robotics magnate who hires Affleck’s character to look at his company’s books.
Tambor, fresh off a Golden Globe win for Transparent, will play Affleck’s mentor and an accountant for the Mafia. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Tambor had come aboard the film.
As Cinema Blend noted, Lithgow and Tambor have joined a powerhouse cast. In addition to Ben Affleck, The Accountant’s cast includes Anna Kendrick, Shane Bernthal and newly-announced Academy Award-nominee J.K. Simmons. Gavin O’Connor is directing the film. Bill Dubuque wrote the script, which was on the 2011 Black List.
The film revolves around a government accountant who covertly works double-time as an assassin. Mel Gibson and Will Smith were both considered for the lead at different points in the film’s development before Affleck took on the role.
The film will shoot in Atlanta.
