A teenager sledding in Long Island, New York died on Monday night after tragically losing control and crashing into a pole.
The part of Suffolk county Sean Urda, 17, lived in was hit by Juno, so he and two friends went tubing down Chester Court in Huntington. During Urda’s turn, around 10pm, he hit a lit pole.
NBC New York reports Urda was from North Eastport and he was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.
At the time of the accident, winds were strong and snow was continued to fall, a National Weather Service meteorologist told the AP.
Urda is the first fatality of the 2015 blizzard known as Juno, also dubbed Snowmagedden.
