Maggie Gyllenhaal and her brother Jake are both nominated for SAG awards this evening, Maggie for her work on BBC's The Honourable Woman and Jake for his leading role in the indie drama Nightcrawler. Maggie opened up about her brother's recent Oscar snub.

Gyllenhaal was nominated for his work in Nightcrawler at Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Independent Spirit but didn't receive a nomination for Best Actor at the Oscars. Maggie spoke out about the lack of a nomination during a red carpet interview with E! at the SAG awards. She said that its "Not a meritocracy," The Hollywood Reporter added.
She went on to say that it is more like recognition. "It's not like, 'you're the best and you're the second best and you're the third best…'," explained Gyllenhaal.
Nightcrawler was not shut out of the Oscars complete, the film received a nomination for best original screenplay, The Huffington Post added.
