The Ohio man accused of plotting to bomb the U.S. Capitol and the surrounding areas, has plead not guilty to the charges against him during a brief court appearance.
The Associated Press reported that Christopher Lee Cornell, 20, entered his not guilty pleas during an arraignment in a federal courtroom on Thursday. He was only referred to by his legal name, not Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah, his Muslim name.
The man from Green Township, just outside of Cincinnati, has been charged with plotting, planning to construct and detonating bombs at and around the Capitol before fatally shooting those inside.
Cornell was never able to carry out the alleged plan. Instead, he was arrested after his own Twitter posts, in which he allegedly sympathized with Islamic Terrorists and supported ISIS, led to the FBI investigating him.
WVXU noted that the suspect was dressed in gray and black prison jumpsuit, remained stoic and never turned to look back at his family, who was present for the hearing.
His father John Cornell, previously said that his son was a “momma’s boy who never left the house” and endured abuse from others when he became a follower of the Islamic faith.
