Those who are looking forward to Tom Cruise's latest daring stunts and high-flying action set pieces in Mission: Impossible 5, rejoice. The new action sequel has been moved from its Christmas release and pushed up five months earlier to July 31.

This pins the Mission: Impossible sequel up against the Jake Gyllenhaal-boxing picture Southpaw, Self/Less and the Point Break remake, as reported by Deadline. This also finds Cruise's latest replacing the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy Grimsby, once set to be released on that date before being pushed back to February 26, 2016. Mission: Impossible 5 also competes now with the second week of the new Fantastic Four reboot.

Instead of leaving the Christmas slot vacated completely to make room for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Paramount has pushed the live action/CGI hybrid Monsters Trucks away from its original May 29 release to go in Mission: Impossible 5's previous time slot. Also set to be released on Christmas is Alvin and the Chipmunks 4 and David O. Russell's Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence.

In addition to Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames are also returning for this latest installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, now directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher). Also set to star in this sequel is Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris and Simon McBurney.
