Netflix has signed a deal with the Duplass Brothers to produce and stream four upcoming projects.

The online streaming service told Deadline that the films will be given a short theatrical release before being added exclusively to the web site for content.

“This is just the latest step in our very long relationship with the Duplass Brothers,” head of content acquisition Ted Sarandos told Deadline. “We’ve been working with them almost since the very beginning, when we were red-envelope delivery. Independent film has always been a big part of Netflix, and the reason we do things like the Adam Sandler deal is so we can do things like this as well.”

Jay and Mark Duplass , known for producing and directing the films Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home, and The Puffy Chair recently debuted Togetherness, a new series on HBO starring Mark according to Entertainment Weekly.

The deal with the Duplass Brothers comes off the heels of Netflix's announcement of a four-movie deal with Adam Sandler and a partnership with the Weinstein Company to produce a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
