Watch out Doctor Who fans! Netflix’s contract with the BBC network is expiring January 31.
WhatsnewonNetflixnow announced that several television shows from the BBC network will probably expire at the end of January, including Doctor Who, Dilbert, Torchwood, Top Gear, and House of Cards (1990-95). Luckily, Hulu and Amazon Prime will still have several of the shows that Netflix will lose at the end of the month.
Not every BBC show will be dropped from Netflix. Shows like Sherlock and Merlin still appear to be safe. If you want to know if your favorite BBC show is going to expire, simply log into your Netflix account, search for the show you like, and hover over the thumbnail. In the Streaming Details section there is an Availability category that announces the expiration date of the show.
According to the Huffington Post and The Wrap, Netflix has yet to comment on whether or not it is attempting to negotiate a contract renewal with BBC.
Whovians, Doctor Who fanatics, have resorted to petitioning Netflix to save Doctor Who from being removed. As of 9p.m. Wednesday, January 14, there were 34140 signatures to save the popular show. To add your name, simply sign the petition.
