Veteran Spanish director Pedro Almodovar officially set up his next film, the femme drama Silencio. The new movie is set to start production this April.

Variety got the scoop on the new movie. Describing the movie to Financial Times as "a hard-hitting drama which excites me," this new movie continues his tradition of making movies centered on "the cinema of women, of great female protagonists." It will be in the same vein as his earlier movies, such as The Flower of My Secret, All About My Mother and Volver.

No word on who will star in the movie, as casting is currently still in place. Almodovar says casting is "complicated because what I've written doesn't quite work with my 'actores amigos.'"

Equally as unknown is what the movie is about, as the director will only say that the title refers to "the principal element that drives the worst things that happen to the main female protagonist." He did say the screenplay is complete, and will film in different locations of Spain, primarily Madrid. He was also recently in London for the stage musical version of his film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
