A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with stealing more than $10,000 from the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Heather Belford is accused of stealing from the groups when she served as Committee Chair for the Cub Scout pack and leader of the Girl Scout troop.

WPVI noted that authorities said the 30-year-old allegedly stole $3,411.28 from Cub Scout Pack 27 and $7,318.88 from Girl Scout Troop 7343 and the Girl Scouts of America of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors believe Belford made over 50 unauthorized transactions in 2014 using the groups’ bank card.

She was arraigned Wednesday and charged with felony theft, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and access device fraud and is due back in court next month.

The theft caused significant financial losses for both groups and if anyone would like to donate to either they can do so by visiting the Scouts’ websites.

Furthermore, if any youth group volunteers would like fraud prevention training they can receive information on the District Attorney’s website.
