Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz is opening up about why his marriage to Ashlee Simpson failed. The couple announced their separated and divorce a few years ago and both have entered into new relationships but many questions surrounding their relationship still exist. The couple currently shares custody of their song Bronx, who is 6 years-old.
The Fall Out Boy guitarist, spoke with Howard Stern, XM radio host, and discussed his relationship with Simpson and new music.
Wenz did say that he thought the marriage would last forever but in the end it was his time away from his band that caused problems within the relationship. "Here's what it really was: At 31, we'd had all these great years as a band, and then we took time off, and I basically became Mr. Mom," said Wentz
"I had the beard, the flannel shirt. I didn't know what my identity was. That factored in. When your identity is what you do, it's hard when you stop doing it." This was also a time when Wentz wasn't in the spotlight and not focused on his work.
Both have moved on since the relationship, Wentz is expecting a child with his girlfriend, model Meagan Camper. While Simpson is expecting with her husband Evan Ross.
Inquistir reported that Fall Out Boy recently surprised fans by leaving streaming their latest album American Beauty/American Psycho. The band is currently focused on their music and going on tour in support of the record.
