Seth Rogen took to Twitter to apologize for a controversial tweet about American Sniper.
"It appears I need to further clarify a tweet I send a few days ago; I said a sniper movie kind of reminded me of a scene in another movie that involved a sniper movie. I didn't compare the two at all," Rogen said according to Yahoo News.
The controversy started on Jan. 18 when Rogen tweeted about the movie, comparing it to a scene in the film Inglorious Basterds where a Nazi propagonda film about a lethal sniper was being shown. The tweet upset those who interpreted it as an insult to veterans, including Whoopi Goldberg, Blake Shelton, Kid Rock, and Dean Cain.
Rogen took to his twitter account to clarify his comments according to The Wrap. The actor and comedian wanted his followers to understand that he had no hidden agendas behind the tweet.
“My grandfather was a veteran. My comment about the movie was not meant to have any political implications. Any political meaning was ascribed to my comment by news commentary,” Rogen wrote. “I’m sorry if this somehow offended anyone, but that was not my intention.”
