ShyBoy has released his latest album Lost in Space and has taken the electronic music (EDM) genre out of this world. ShyBoy has found a way to make his album feel more modern and unique in a time when EDM is taking over the charts.
Fans of the music industry might know ShyBoy's music from a variety of television shows including, Super Fun Night on ABC and America's Next Top Model on the CW but his career started long before he found success on TV and on the charts.
Lost in Space is a step up from his debut EP Water on Mars, which featured an introduction to his musical sound and ability to combine EDM with a more indie pop genre. Which had not been done well before in the current music landscape.
ShyBoy, who is legally known as Jason Arnold, is known for being a songwriter, producer and a mashup master but is putting his own and unique music forward. ShyBoy uses a variety of different instruments to help frame his wide vocal range and different collaborations, which gives this album a new feel and takes it out of the traditional EDM, fast and heavy heating beats that are on the charts.
Lost in Space features many different collaborations including one with Emmy Award-nominated lyricist Amy Powers, one with Jim Dooley and one with writer/producer Bryan Fuller. These collaborations help to take the album to a new and elevated level because of his willingness to experiment with his music and play with different genres. Lost in Space does that well but also feels like a full album that seamlessly transitions from one song to the next.
Another highlight of this album is a cover of Donna Summer classic "She Works Hard For The Money." Stand out tracks on the album include, "Missing Michigan," "Embrace the Rain" and "Raise Your Hand."
