Students in Pakistan returned to the school where more than 100 children were shot and killed by Taliban gunmen.
The AFP reported that most of the country’s schools were given an extended winter break due to the Dec. 16th attacks and had been shut down until Monday.
Abid Ali Shah, told the Associated Press that he had difficulty getting his two sons ready for school since that was something his wife, who was killed in the attacks, normally did.
"A hollowness in my life is getting greater. I am missing my wife," he said.
Shah’s youngest son, was shot in the head by the gunmen that day, but survived the terrifying ordeal.
CNN noted that 15-year-old Shahrukh Hussain also survived after being shot and said that after such a long break, he was excited to get back to school. He still has a bullet lodged in his back.
The Army Public School and Degree College in Peshawar reopened to tight security measures, hoping to bring some comfort to students, staff and distressed parents.
About 150 people, mostly children, were killed in one of the deadliest attacks in Pakistan’s history.
