Authorities in South Florida said that three people were arrested after hundreds of riders on dirt bikes and ATV’s took to two major highways and whizzed in and out of traffic.
The Miami Herald reported that the vehicles did dangerous stunts and maneuvers in traffic Monday on Interstate 95 and US 441 in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Some Twitter users pointed out that the scene and some of the moves by the riders were reminiscent of the ‘90s hit music video Ruff Ryders’ Anthem by rap artist DMX.
Florida Highway Patrol officials arrested three of the riders, but did not give chase to any others fearing that the lives of other drivers would have then been at risk.
“We’re not going to put their lives as well as other motorists’ lives in danger by chasing these kids on dirt bikes and ATVs,” said Joe Sanchez, spokesman for the FHP.
While law enforcement condemned their actions, one of the riders told CBSMiami that they were not out to hurt anyone.
“We don’t mean no harm or cause no pressure we are just out here celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. birthday,” the biker said.
The police, however, said that they received multiple complaints from fellow motorist who felt they were in danger due to the way the bikers were driving.
