Secret agents are a big hit at the box office this weekend. Ethan Hawke turns back time as a temporal agent in his new thriller. Plus, Bryan Mills is back and must put out all of the stops because his family is in danger once again.
Falsely accused of murdering his ex-wife, Bryan Mills is on the run in Taken 3. Seeking revenge and determined to protect his daughter, he goes on a mission to find the murderer. Liam Neeson stars alongside Famke Janssen, Dougray Scott, Forest Whitaker and Maggie Grace. The PG-13 action thriller runs for one hour and forty-nine minutes.
A time traveling secret government agent is sent to different eras to stop crime before it happens in Predestination. On his last mission, he travels back in time to enlist his younger self in law enforcement while nabbing the criminal that has slipped through his fingers over the years. Ethan Hawke stars in the one hour and thirty-seven minute sci-fi thriller. The limited released film is rated R for violence, sex, nudity and language.
A young man is conflicted on which path to take in life in The World Made Straight. He must decide whether or not to step out from what he knows, the violent shadows of his town’s past, or try to start anew. The limited released drama stars Noah Wyle, Jeremy Irvine, Minka Kelly and Haley Joel Osment. It’s rated R for language, sex, drugs and violence.
A woman and her married sister start a relationship with a poet in Beloved Sisters. To keep their unorthodox love affair under wraps, the single sister marries the poet. The relationship between the three is rocked when the other sister starts to show promise as a writer. The unrated German film is subtitled in English and is Germany’s Oscar submission for “Best Foreign Language Film.” The romantic drama is playing in limited theaters for two hours and fifty minutes.
Plots are conspired to get rid of a woman who is hated by many, including her husband and his friends in Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife. When she succumbs to an accidental death, Ward and his friends must figure out a way to get rid of the body without missing their golf game. The one hour and twenty-one minute comedy is directed by Scott Foley and co-stars Patrick Wilson, Donald Faison, Nicolette Sheridan Amy Acker and Greg Grunberg. The unrated comedy is available in limited theaters.
With all of the serious films out this week, next week brings some comic relief. Kevin Hart’s new comedy Wedding Ringer debuts alongside the children’s film Paddington on January 16.
