Cameras are finally starting to roll on Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs biopic. Universal announced on Tuesday that principal photography has begun.

The film is currently titled Steve Jobs and is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of the late co-founder of Apple. It is expected to focus on three revolutionary production lunches, ending with 1998’s iMac.

The project has had a rough life just getting to this point. Sony strangely dropped it in November, with Universal picking it up days later. The behind-the-scenes havoc that lead to the project falling out of Sony’s hands was unveiled in emails leaked in December.

Even before Sony dropped it, there were problems. David Fincher decided not to direct it, then Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio decided they didn’t want to be in it. Eventually, Universal got Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave, X-Men) to play Jobs.

According to ComingSoon.net, the other members of the cast include Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman; Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak; Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley; Katherine Waterston as Chrisann Brennan; and Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Herzfeld.

Boyle won an Oscar for directing Slumdog Millionaire and was nominated for co-writing 127 Hours. Sorkin won an Oscar for writing The Social Network and also created The West Wing and The Newsroom.
