The East Coast is bracing for a winter storm that could bring several inches of snow to some areas on Saturday.

Bloomberg News noted that depending on your location, you could escape the white stuff and end up with a slushy mess.

The storm will quickly move in and out on Saturday and cities like New York and Boston may just get a slushy mix during the day, said Rob Carolan, a meteorologist with Hometown Forecast Services Inc.

However, as the Boston Globe reported, for areas north and west of Boston it’s a different story. Folks could see 4 to 8 inches of snow, especially in central Massachusetts and traveling conditions are expected to be hazardous in that area.

“You definitely don’t want to be driving in that,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Glenn Fields.

South of that, in Philadelphia, the storm could dump 4 inches of snow on the City of Brotherly Love before changing over to rain.

So it may be time to bring out the shovels for what is forecast to be the biggest snow event of the season so far.
