Zac Efron will star in another comedy and this time, he’s in search of a wedding date.
On Thursday, Variety reported that he will star in Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates, which will be released by Fox. Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, David Ready and Jenno Topping are producing. Jake Szymanski was picked to direct.
The script, by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, centers on two brothers who use the web to find wedding dates and their ad goes viral.
Efron is turning into a raunchy comedy star, especially after earning success with Neighbors, which grossed $150 million last year. He’s also working on another raunchy comedy, Dirty Grandpa with Robert De Niro.
The former High School Musical star just filmed We Are Your Friends for Working Title. That movie is expected to be released sometime this year.
As for Szymanski, Mike And Dave will be his feature film debut. His previous work includes episodes of Saturday Night Live, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and John Mulaney: New In Town.
