Boko Haram militants killed at least 10 people when the group attacked Chad on overnight on Friday.
According to BBC News, Chad suffered a “pay back attack” when members of the extremist group crossed the Nigerian border via Lake Chad and attacked a village.
The assault is allegedly because the country had recently joined several other African nations in the fight against Boko Haram.
Reuters noted that the group set many houses on fire as it attacked the village.
"They came on board three pirogues and succeeded in killing about ten people before being pushed back by the army," said a resident of the Ngouboua village, which is situated just about 10 miles east of the Nigerian border.
It is also an area where thousands of Nigerian refugees to after an attack in January.
Boko Haram has been carrying out violent attacks in Nigeria since 2009. The group is against western education and is the same organization that garnered international attention last April when it kidnapped some 200 girls from a school in Chibok, Borno State.
