Seven people were burnt to death after a crowded bus in Bangladesh was firebombed on Tuesday morning.
The Associated Press noted that authorities said the attack occurred while the bus was traveling on a highway bound for the
capital city of Dhaka.
The AFP reported that the bus and its passengers inside were firebombed by anti-government protesters.
"Seven passengers were burnt to death in the bus after the petrol bomb was thrown at 4am," the police chief of the Comilla district said. "Five of the passengers are fighting for their life as 40-80 percent of their bodies were burnt. They have been shifted to a hospital in the capital.”
In addition to the deceased, several people were also injured in the firebombing and taken to a local hospital. Dozens of people have been killed in similar attacks over the past month.
This attack happened during a national general strike enforced by an opposition alliance seeking new elections in the country.
