Mexican singer and songwriter, Ariel Camacho, died in a car accident this week at just 22 years old.
According to Billboard, the DEL Records artist was touring to promote his latest album, El Karma, which he recorded with his band, Los Plebes del Rancho, when he died on a highway outside of his native Sinaloa, Mexico.
Originally known as Jose Ariel Camacho Barraza, the singer was known for his guitar playing and soft vocals that he sang on acoustic songs. He also had a large YouTube following.
People reports that the record label confirmed the death by posting a video of his fans mourning and singing along to his hit single, “Te Metiste.”
Angel Del Villar, president and founder of DEL Records said in a statement, “My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho.”
“I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would become fans would have gotten to know the man I did.”
