At least 23 people were killed and another 20 remain missing after a plane crash in Taiwan.

Reuters noted that on Wednesday, shortly after takeoff TransAsia Airways Flight GE235 clipped a bridge and taxi before plunging into the Keelung River.

The taxi driver and passenger were injured and transported to a local hospital where they are receiving treatment.

The horrific incident was captured on dashcam video.

The plane left a Taipei airport and was headed to the island of Kinmen.

CNA reported that 58 people including five crew members, were on board the ATR-72 turbo-prop aircraft at the time of the crash. Most of those aboard the plane were Chinese tourists.

Those that survived were seen on local television wearing life jackets as rescue personnel helped pull them from the river to safety.

The black boxes from the flight have been recovered.

According to an air traffic control recording on liveatc.net, the last known communication with the plane’s pilot was a Mayday call about engine trouble.

At this time, the crash is under investigation.
