A 15-inch beagle named Miss P won the 139th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday night, taking home the top honor of Best in Show.
She’s only the second beagle to win this honor in the dog show’s history but does have some winner’s blood. She’s the grandniece of the show’s 2008 winner Ch. K-Run's Park Me In First..
CNN reports Miss P’s full name is "Ch Tashtins Looking for Trouble” and she’s 4 years old. She was ranked No. 1 in the hound category on Monday.
The show is usually dictated by Wire Fox Terriers and Scottish Terriers, who have won the majority of the Best in Show prizes throughout the years.
New York Times reports among the other finalists were President Obama’s dog Bo’s cousin, Portugese water dog Matisse. Some crowd favorites were an Old English sheepdog name Swagger and Charlie the Skye terrier.
At a press conference after Miss P’s win, her owner Will Alexander, said, “She’s hungry and I’m overwhelmed,” adding “She does this quite a lot but not at quite this magnitude.”
