Beck has responded to Kanye West’s Grammys outburst in the most humble way possible. He actually agrees with West that Beyonce should’ve won Album of the Year and holds no ill will towards the Yeezus rapper.
Beck had a great reaction onstage when West stormed it but decided against doing a repeat of his interruption of Taylor Swift wining over Beyonce back in 2009 at the MTV VMAs. He actually waved him back, with West’s gesture almost looking like a joke when he sat back down.
Beck told Us Weekly, "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?"
When asked if he agreed that Beyonce should’ve won Album of the Year he said "Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyonce!"
Beck was extremely gracious when asked to comment on West’s after show comments that he needs to “respect artistry” and give “his award to Beyoncé,” saying, "You can't please everybody, man," he replied. "I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does."
