Since Beck won Album of the Year at this year’s Grammys, there has been a heated debate amongst Beyoncé’s Beyhive and several others on whether or not the singer got snubbed.
“Who is Beck” became a trending topic on Twitter and rapper Kanye West even did a post-Grammys interview suggesting that Beck should give his award to Beyoncé for her self-titled album, Beyonce.
“The Grammys, if they want real artists to come back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video, and Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” Kanye told E! News.
In his response, Beck took the higher road. "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody,” Beck told Us Weekly. “How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?”
Beck added that he thought Beyoncé should have won as well. “Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyoncé!"
One individual used all the controversy to create a mashup of Beyoncé’s 2008 song “Single Ladies” and Beck’s 1994 “Loser.” The catchy mashup was posted to SoundCloud under the name “Beckyoncé Knowles-Hansen,” MTV reports.
