Lawyers for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect have again stated that they do not believe their client can get a fair trial in the city where the bombing occurred. They have requested that the case be moved elsewhere.
The Associated Press reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev attorneys requested that the trial be moved out of Massachusetts all together citing “saturation publicity” from all those who were affected by the tragedy.
Reuters noted that U.S. District Judge George O'Toole rejected the defense attorneys’ pleas three other times. So Tsarnaev’s public defender Judith Mizner presented her argument before a U.S. Court of Appeals in Boston.
On April 15, 2013, two pressure cooker bombs exploded near the finish line of the race, killing three people and injuring more than 260 others. Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan were quickly named suspects.
The elder Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police and after a manhunt for the younger sibling, he was captured and taken into custody. If convicted he could face the death penalty.
The court did not say when it will decide if there will be a change of venue or not.
