More snow fell in Boston over the weekend and with the new amounts the city is now within a foot of its snowiest winter on record.

CBS noted that the city is just 11.9 inches away from breaking the old record set back in the 1995-96 season.

The record could easily be broken since this winter season is far from over. In fact, around three to six inches of snow is expected in Boston Tuesday.

On Sunday, the National Weather Service tweeted that Boston has already made history this winter and broken the record for snowiest month.

All this snowfall has really hurt some businesses in Massachusetts though. Therefore, as CNN reported, in an effort to help out some florists and restaurants Gov. Charlie Baker announced that this week will be “Valentine’s Week” in the state.

For the moment, the snow has been replaced by plunging temperatures and bitter cold air.

Meanwhile, we’ll have to stay tuned to see what the rest of the season brings and if Boston does in fact land in the record books.
