Benedict Cumberbatch has such a packed schedule that one project had to be a casualty. He has left James Gray’s Lost City of Z, only to be replaced by Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam.

The news was reported just as the project got financing from MICA Entertainment and will be up for sale to international distributors at the Berlin Film Festival. According to Variety, the film’s domestic rights are represented by CAA.

Filming on the movie, adapted from David Grann’s 2009 book, will start this summer. Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing with Dale Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Executive producers include Julie B. May and Glenn Murray of MICA.

Cumberbatch had been linked to the film since September 2013, but he ultimately decided to make Marvel’s Doctor Strange instead. Robert Pattinson and American Sniper’s Sienna Miller are still attached.

The film centers on Percy Fawcett, a British surveyor who tried to find a mythical city in the Amazon and got lost. It will be Gray’s follow-up to last year’s The Immigrant.

Hunnam wrapped up Sons of Anarchy recently, giving him time to focus on his movie career. His next movie is Crimson Peak and stars in Warner Bros.’ King Arthur movie.
