Doctor Who fans who have always wanted real LEGO sets are finally getting their wish. Plus, anyone who wanted to build their own WALL-E will get that opportunity as well.
The two set ideas are the latest winners of the LEGO Ideas initiative, which gives fans the opportunity to submit their own ideas. The LEGO Review Board picked the two, meaning that they will eventually reach store shelves and both are approved by the BBC and Disney. The ideas also had to receive at least 10,000 votes from fans.
Andrew Clark submitted the idea for the Doctor Who set, which will feature several Doctors, but it’s not entirely clear what else will be included.
“Both Doctor Who and LEGO enjoy a particularly close relationship with their fans and I can’t wait to see what LEGO produce,” Marcus Arthur, MD of BBC Worldwide UK, said in a statement.
As for the WALL-E set, it’s pretty clear what that set will include. Disney and LEGO already have a relationship, as the toy company continues making Star Wars sets. The loveable robot was introduced in the 2008 Pixar movie WALL-E, which won the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar.
The two sets are expected to hit store shelves later this year.
