Morena Baccarin, who currently stars on Fox’s Gotham, will get another big role related to comic books. She won the female lead role in Deadpool.
The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. She will play the romantic interest for Ryan Reynolds, who stars as the title character.
Reynolds stars as the wise-cracking mercenary from the X-Men universe, which is why 20th Century Fox gets to make the movie. Fox has the screen rights to Marvel’s X-Men. T.J. Miller and Gina Carano co-star.
The film is being directed by Tim Miller, with a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing.
Deadpool will be released on Feb. 12, 2016.
Baccarin was nominated for an Emmy for her role on Showtime’s Homeland. She will next be seen in the Melissa McCarthy comedy Spy.
