Since there are so many Grammy awards, there’s never enough time to hand them all out during the broadcast. As a result, several awards are announced before the ceremony and one of those winners was Disney’s Frozen.
Yes, nearly a year after winning two Oscars, the most successful animated film of all time was not done picking up awards. The film won for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, beating out American Hustle, Get On Up, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and The Wolf Of Wall Street.
“Let It Go,” which already won the Oscar for Best Original Song, won Best Song Written for Visual Media. It marks another Grammy for Robert Lopez and it is the first for his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
Frozen wasn’t the only movie to win a Grammy yesterday. Alexandre Desplat won Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for The Grand Budapest Hotel. (Earlier Sunday, he won the BAFTA for Original Score and is up for the Oscar.)
Due to the eligibility period for the Grammys, Desplat’s competition was mostly 2013 films, other than Gone Girl. The other nominees were Frozen, Gravity (which won the Oscar last year) and Saving Mr. Banks.
John Williams won the Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition for The Book Thief, which also earned him an Oscar nomination.
