Before Bruce Jenner finally gets to tell his own story, his transition to a woman is playing out in the tabloids. That means we’re finding out about how the rest of his family took the news before his rumored documentary series even airs.
The former Olympian’s big decision is the cover story for People Magazine’s latest issue and the magazine teased its reporting over the weekend by posting a statement by a source close to the family.
“Bruce is transitioning to a woman,” the source said. “He is finally happy and his family is accepting of what he's doing.”
Now, People is reporting that the family has accepted his decision and will support him. They suspected what was happening, but were still shocked to hear Jenner tell them himself.
Jenner’s own children - plus his stepchildren from his marriage to Kris Jenner - are all support him.
“They all came all around pretty quickly, but each of them had to process it in their own way,” People’s insider said. “All they want is for him to be happy."
Kim Kardashian told the news to her mother, Kris, and had a “long conversation about it.” At that point, Kris gave Jenner “her unconditional support.”
Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian’s longtime boyfriend, had a mixed reaction at first but has since come around. Kanye West, Kim’s husband, is also “totally fine with it.”
Radar Online reported that Kourtney and Disick are concerned about how to tell their three children.
It has been rumored that Jenner will star in a reality series to chronicle his transition, but first, he will sit down with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer for an interview.
