Coffee lovers can now drink their coffees and dispose of the cup in a fun way – by eating it.
According to The New York Times, the fast food chain recently announced that they will be testing out an edible coffee cup in British stores made out of a wafer cookie coated in sugar paper and lined with white chocolate that doesn’t melt.
The chain will begin to release the product during the same time when Seattle’s Best Coffee – a part of Starbucks – will debut in the restaurant.
The “Scoff-ee Cup” are said to be helpful to not only the palettes of KFC’s customers but will also prevent clutter in the environment, USA Today reports.
“This type of edible packaging is definitely aligned with the global consumer mind-set in terms of sustainability and simplifying their life,” said Shilpa Rosenberry, senior director of global consumer strategy at Daymon Worldwide, a consulting firm that works with many food companies told the Times.
However, it is not clear yet how many calories will be packed into the cup.
