Authorities in Las Vegas announced some new developments in the case of a woman who was shot last Thursday and thought to be the target of a road rage incident.
NBC News noted that police now say that Tammy Meyers, 44, drove around with her adult son looking for the suspect before she was later shot outside her home.
As previously reported, Meyers was struck by a bullet and died at a hospital Saturday after being taken off life support. However, investigators now say that she was not immediately followed home by the suspect after teaching her teenage daughter how to drive and almost getting into an accident like they initially thought. They said that Meyers and her armed son went looking for the suspect first.
The homicide unit took over for the violent crimes unit after Meyers passed away and have pieced together a timeline of the events that occurred leading up to the shooting.
"I did what I had to do to protect my family. Everyone can think what they have to think; I did it for a reason. And I'd do it for anyone I love," Meyers' son, Brandon, said at a vigil Tuesday night.
Police said the shooting suspect is described as a white male, about 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He was driving a grey or silver sedan.
