Authorities said Friday that a man was arrested in connection with an attempted bombing near an NAACP office in Colorado Springs.

According to the Associated Press, a source has said that Thaddeus Murphy, 44, was taken into custody for the small explosion which occurred Jan. 6.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The case was originally investigated as a hate crime, but as the Colorado Springs Gazette reported, the NAACP office was likely not the intended target. The building also has other businesses inside.

Murphy allegedly told law enforcement officials that he was upset with an accountant who worked in one of the offices over 2006 tax records. He appeared in a Denver courtroom on Friday after his arrest the previous day and is facing charges of arson and possession of firearms.

It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.

The NAACP stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The Association has several chapters across the U.S.
