Though a lot of the cast of the original Star Wars trilogy will be appearing in the highly anticipated The Force Awakens, it's been a little unclear how the movie would balance the story between them and the new characters. Now, we have confirmation from the man himself that Episode VII really isn't about Luke, Han and Leia.

In an interview with the LA Times to promote Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mark Hamill said that he was surprised to be included in the new trilogy at all and that he would have been totally comfortable with not being in the new movies.

He went on to say that he thinks having the original cast back helps give the movie a sense of continuity. "But mind you," Hamill said, "it’s really about the new generation, it’s not about us."

Fans probably should have been expecting this for a while now, especially given the complete lack of original trilogy characters in the Force Awakens trailer. The new movie instead will be focusing on the new heroes of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Though we don't know too much about the plot of the movie, all rumors point to The Force Awakens setting up these new characters' storylines, which will continue throughout the new trilogy, according to Screen Rant.

Hardcore fans might be a little disappointed to only see the original cast in supporting roles, but in the end it's probably best to focus on some new characters and new storylines, with the story of Luke, Han and Leia having basically come to an end.

Hamill also addressed the insane hype over The Force Awakens, saying that people may have way too high of expectations. "These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed," he said.

Sorry Mark, but the Star Wars hype isn't dying down anytime soon.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th, 2015.
