Marvel Comics has announced the arrival of its first ever all-female Avengers team.
According to Mashable, the new series entitled A-Force will feature She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and a cast of other superheroines. A-Force will be written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett while X-Men artist Jorge Molina will handle the art.
Wilson said that the team has worked to create a diverse cast of heroines who must come together for a common purpose.
“We've purposefully assembled a team composed of very different characters — from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies," Wilson said. "They'll all have to come together to answer some big questions."
This isn't the first time that Marvel has assembled a female-led group as USA Today reports that A-Force will be the 15th current publication with a strong female cast.
A-Force will debut during Marvel's Secret Wars event where the Marvel Universe is disbanded and the Avengers no longer exist. In the "feminist paradise" of Arcadia, an old threat arises and forces the new team to assemble.
