After months of back and forth with different actors flirting for the lead roles in Todd Phillips' (The Hangover trilogy) latest Arms and the Dudes, casting for the film has finally come together. Miles Teller officially joins Jonah Hill to headline the true story-based feature.
Deadline reports the Whiplash star signed on to the Warner Bros. film after being offered the part back in December. Hill and Teller replace Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LabBeouf, who were at one time eyed to play the lead roles.
Based on the Rolling Stone article "The Stoner Arms Dealers', written by Guy Lawson, Arms and the Dudes tells the story of two unlikely arms dealers who secure a $300 million contract to supply weapons in Afghanistan to U.S. allies, only to — of course — end up out of their heads. Teller embodies David Packouz in the film, while Hill plays his partner Efraim Diveroli. Phillips co-wrote the screenplay for the film with Jason Smilovic.
Continuing this rising star status, Teller is next seen on the screen in The Divergent Series: Insurgent on March 20, and then plays Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, in the forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot on August 7. He also stars as boxing fighter Vinnie Pazienza in Bleed For This, also coming to theaters sometime this year.
