After Sunday night, Neil Patrick Harris will be one Grammys ceremony away from a hosting EGOT. He only has three more days to prepare for the Oscars on Sunday and he’s really hoping something surprising happens.
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, Harris talked about how hard it is to write jokes, because you don’t really want to offend anyone sitting in the audience. Especially if they are hoping to win an Oscar. But still, Harris said that he’s hoping for a scandal.
“Maybe you could get caught not being gay or something like that!” Kimmel suggested.
“But I tried that in Gone Girl and you know how that ended!” Harris perfectly replied.
Harris also spoke with the Associated Press and admitted that it would be kind of cool if Kanye West was in attendance so he could run up on stage. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a reason to be there.
“That's why you want to watch the Oscars,” Harris explained. “We hope for things to happen that you'll only experience by watching it... The crazier the better, as far as I'm concerned.”
Harris has already hosted the Emmys and Tonys. The Oscars are a bit different, which is why he can be nervous before the show starts.
“If you're too calm and confident, then I think you aren't executing to the best of your ability,” Harris told the AP. “So I try not to let nerves get the best of me, but I welcome them because it tends to fuel me to try harder.”
The Oscars are on Sunday, live on ABC from Los Angeles. Harris will be performing a new song by Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
