After a day of rumors, Paramount Pictures confirmed that president Adam Goodman is officially leaving the studio.
Back on Wednesday, TheWrap reported that he was leaving, but it wasn’t until today that Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey officially confirmed the news. “The studio is currently reviewing its creative organization,” a source told TheWrap.
Goodman was likely pushed out, as he still had a year left on his current contract, reports Variety. But it isn’t entirely clear who Paramount Pictures Film Group will replace him with.
Goodman has been at the studio since 2008 and has overseen several recent hits, from the biggest moneymaker of 2014, Transformers: Age of Extinction, to this year’s The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water. Other recent smash hits have included Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, the Paranormal Activity movies and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.
However, the hits have come with long breaks in between, which had been a point of contention between Goodman, Grey and Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount doesn’t have another movie until Terminator: Genisys, which comes out in July.
This is the second time in a matter of days that one of the major Hollywood studios experienced major changes. Earlier this month, Sony’s Amy Pascal stepped down and was replaced by Tom Rothman.
