Although the Deadpool movie is a year away, its star Ryan Reynolds recently shared a sneak peek of the comic book character's costume on Twitter.

"Sepia tone disguises the fact that the mask is ballerina pink," Reynolds quipped in a reference to the traditionally red-and-black costume, acknowledging the fact that "it's early".

The film follows the adventures of Marvel's mouthy anti-hero, and is set as a spin-off of Fox's X-Men franchise. Reynolds previously appeared as Deadpool in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but plans for a solo outing for the sardonic superhero have been a long time in the making.

It wasn't until leaked test footage featuring Reynolds as Deadpool surfaced on the Internet last year and spurred enough positive feedback that Fox officially green-lit a feature film based on the character.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, Reynolds described his confidence in the film despite the fact that it lacks a common element of its superhero-movie brethren: a big budget.

"Now, we get to make the movie," he said. "We don't get to make it with the budget of most superhero movies, but we get to make it the way we want to make it, so that's even better than having a catered lunch."

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
