Steven Spielberg’s career is littered with passion projects and one of those is the Indiana Jones franchise. He loves the archaeologist so much that he reportedly wants to make a fifth film, even if it doesn’t star Harrison Ford.

Last month, Deadline reported that Disney wants to cast Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt as Indy. That’s still a rumor, since Disney has neither confirmed nor denied that.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Spielberg is hoping to direct the Disney reboot, at least if he likes the script. Of course, there isn’t a script at this point, so nothing is set in stone.

Ford starred as Indy in all four films of the series, including the last one, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was infamously terrible. Spielberg directed that, too and possibly a younger star will reinvigorate his skills at directing blockbusters.

Spielberg likes Pratt, who also starred in Marvels’ Guardians of the Galaxy. The director actually picked him to star in Jurassic World, which Spielberg is a producer on.

Spielberg’s next film is his Cold War thriller with Tom Hanks, which will open in October. He’s also developing an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.
