Jurors have found Eddie Ray Routh guilty or murder in the case of American Sniper subject Chris Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield.

The verdict was announced in Texas at around 9:30pm; life in prison without eligibility of parole. Routh had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Taya Kyle, Kyle’s widow, left before the verdict was announced, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports. She left angry when the defense was giving their closing statements.

Chad Littlefield’s mother, Judy Littlefield, said after the verdict was reached, “We've waited two years for God to get justice for us on behalf of our son and, as always, God has proved to be faithful. We're so thrilled that we have the verdict that we have tonight."

Routh opened fire on the two men while at the shooting range Rough Creek Lodge, just outside of Dallas, in 2013.

Taya Kyle attended the Academy Awards on Sunday in support of American Sniper, which was up for six awards. She clutched her late husband’s dog tags in honor of him.
