This week’s column includes motion pictures from vastly diverse movie genres, biographical, action and comedy. Love & Mercy is a biographical film about the complex life of Beach Boys singer/songwriter Brian Wilson. Unfinished Business is a comedy about a business owner and his two associates who go on a business trip that goes in a completely divergent direction. Run All Night is an action flick where an aging hitman is forced to take on his former boss in order to protect his family. All three films have top drawer celebrities in their casts, a fact that is sure to bring in droves of moviegoers on each one’s opening day. In addition, each has elements that will appeal to every kind of potential audience member. Plus, certain celebrities in these motion pictures are attempting roles outside their usual comfort zone, which could appeal to their fans or cause dislike among them.

Love & Mercy is a biographical drama detailing the life of the Beach Boys singer/songwriter Brian Wilson. Starring John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Giamatti and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ Jake Abel. The film chronicles two periods in Wilson’s life, the 1960s and the 1980s. The movie’s trailer illustrates the band’s rise to fame with Dano playing a young Wilson, his life with his second wife, Melinda (Banks,) as well as his older self, played by Cusack, as Wilson has a nervous breakdown and begins therapy with the controversial Dr. Eugene Landy (Giamatti.) Both Dano and Cusack show the extent of their acting talents as they portray this deeply troubled, complicated man, as both young and older. It opens in theaters on Friday, June 5.

Unfinished Business is a comedy starring Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco, Tom Wilkinson, James Marsden and Sienna Miller. Vaughn plays Daniel Trunkman, a hardworking business owner, who along with two of his associates, (Franco & Wilkinson) travel to Europe on a business trip in order to close a crucial deal that will save their business. Yet, unbelievable mishaps, miscommunications and a host of other things go awry as they find themselves making unplanned stops, one of which is at a sex fetish expo. The flick’s trailer shows the craziness that ensues as the three men attempt to save their company by doing all kinds of wild things to impress this very important client. It opens in theaters on Friday, March 6.

Run All Night is an action adventure romp starring Liam Neeson, AMC’s The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ed Harris, Bruce McGill and Common. The plot revolves around Jimmy Conlon (Neeson,) who is an aging hitman, who must face his ruthless ex-boss in order to protect his family. The motion picture’s trailer displays Conlon’s ex-boss, Shawn Maguire (Harris) going after Conlon and his estranged son because he killed his. Filled with pulse-pounding thrills, Neeson once again demonstrates his skill at playing an action hero, albeit one of advanced years, who will still stop at nothing to protect those he loves and can get the job done just as well as his younger counterparts. It opens in theaters on Friday, March 13.
