Just as Whoopi Goldberg was planning to exit The View, ABC execs met her at the door and forbade her from leaving.

Goldberg, who was scheduled to permanently leave the show and star in another comedy, can thank Rosie O’Donnell for not being able to depart. It was when O’Donnell announced her exit that the show’s producer’s told Goldberg she wasn’t going anywhere, according to Page Six. While Goldberg originally planned to work solely on her new project, she is not letting her commitments to The View stop her.

“But it’s a lot of work to go and do two or three jobs at the same time. I’m getting older, and I don’t want to work that hard. So we’ll see how it all works out.”

People confirms that she will star in the ABC comedy, Delores and Jermaine. Playing a former Washington D.C. cop that allows her grandson to live with her. the show will air in the fall if it’s picked up.

The View brought on three new women to replace the losses of Barbara Walters and Joy Behar. Considering O’Donnell left and Goldberg was attempting to leave, it’s exciting to see who’s interested in taking the chairs next.
