Will Smith isn't going to be focusing on box office results when his latest movie hits theatres.

According to Variety, Smith said that he plans to completely ignore the opening weekend box office numbers for newest project, Focus. Smith noted that he refused to allow box office success or failure affect how he feels about himself.

“My art has to be an offering,” he said. “It’s ideas and concepts and things I believe in that I want to offer for the possibility of improving lives. And I can’t allow the box office success, or lack thereof, to determine my self-image.”

Smith added that he learned his lesson from the critical and box office bomb that was 2013's After Earth, which Smith called the most painful failure of his career. The science-fiction film co-starring his son Jaden earned $60 million domestically on a budget of $130 million. Focus will be Smith's first starring role since After Earth flopped.

Focus stars Smith as a con man alongside Margot Robbie. The two will meet again when they co-star in the upcoming Suicide Squad film playing Batman villains Deadshot and Harley Quinn respectively. Focus will arrive in theatres on Feb. 27.
