Two people were killed and several others were wounded late Wednesday night after gunmen burst into an eatery in Gothenburg, Sweden and opened fire.
RT.com noted that witnesses at Var Krog och Bar, which translates to "our tavern and bar," said they were watching a football match when armed men entered and began shooting people.
The Associated Press reported that police have not yet determined who the gunmen’s intended targets were, but said that the area has had problems with gang violence.
“Our assessment is that this incident has to do with ongoing gang conflicts,” said Police Chief Klas Friberg.
The deceased were two males in their 20s. Those who were wounded were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Most of their injuries are not life-threatening.
There have been shootings in the area around the pub in the past as gun violence is not uncommon in Sweden’s major cities.
So far no arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing.
