Authorities said that three members of Morgan State University’s football team were stabbed at the Maryland campus on Tuesday. One player was seriously injured.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the incident started just after 2 p.m. outside the school’s cafeteria.

University spokesman Clint Coleman said the suspect was seen wielding a knife during fight or argument.

"Some individual pulled out a knife in the middle of the altercation and just wildly began swinging. Two individuals were cut superficially, one was cut more seriously but not life-threatening," Coleman said.

WBAL-TV noted that arriving officers said that they found one victim in very serious condition with a stab wound to the chest. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Another victim was stabbed in the back and the other was stabbed in the arm. Police said a fourth person who may have been involved could also be a suspect. One person is custody at this time.

It is not clear what led to the altercation between the victims and the suspect, but police are continuing to investigate.

This is the second stabbed at the university in as many weeks. Last week, a student stabbed his roommate with scissors over the cleanliness of their dorm room.
